The first step of this marathon day was the official launch of the Investment and Payment Platform for Environmental Services in Cameroon (Investment Development & PES Hub), presided over by the government official in charge of planning, alongside partner institutions. Financed by the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI) and implemented by The Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH), this initiative aims to channel private capital toward climate-resilient agriculture that respects forest cover. By consolidating incentive mechanisms in strategic agricultural basins, the system seeks to reconcile forest ecosystem preservation with the sustained improvement of rural producers' incomes.


Beyond climate imperatives, the diplomatic and commercial dynamic extended to the realm of continental and sub-regional integration. Authorities thus welcomed a study mission dispatched by Gabonese authorities, comprising sector experts and customs representatives, eager to adopt national expertise in the operational implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The exchanges enabled the presentation of best practices stemming from the Guided Trade Initiative and the domestication of preferential regimes.


Finally, the consultation cycle concluded with an in-depth meeting with the new head of the European Union delegation. This first high-level contact allowed for an examination of prospects to deepen the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), confirming the shared will to energize trade flows and consolidate a mutually beneficial partnership between Yaoundé and Brussels.
