According to statistical data from the Cameroon Banana Association (Assobacam), global exports amounted to 13,319 tonnes, marking a 35.3% decline compared to the 20,577 tonnes recorded in July. This volume represents the lowest monthly level observed since the beginning of the year, sharply contrasting with the dynamism displayed during the summer period and the historical records accumulated in the first half.


Analysis of this decline reveals a particularly pronounced slowdown within structures affiliated with the Compagnie Fruitière de Marseille. The Haut Penja Plantations (PHP), the sector's leading player, saw their shipments drop to 9,108 tonnes, while the Compagnie des Bananes de Mondoni (CDBM) recorded a sharper reduction in its exported volumes. On its side, the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC), a public agro-industrial enterprise, demonstrated relatively better resistance by limiting its decline to a less sustained pace.


Sector observers largely attribute this underperformance to an inherent cyclicality linked to agronomic and climatic conditions of the period, characterized by a traditional productivity decline. Despite this conjunctural dip and the recent integration of Boh Plantations assets, the annual trajectory remains generally upward, supported by remarkable performances achieved between January and June 2026.
