The Nkpwang facility, with a nominal power of 50 MVA for a 90/30 kV configuration, integrates the first phase of the 225 kV Ebolowa-Kribi and 90 kV Mbalmayo-Mekin electrical connection program. The equipment will accommodate 8 medium-voltage departures to stabilize domestic and industrial voltage.

The physical progress of the construction site has reached 28%, with the Chinese contractor TBEA completing the earthworks and finalizing 90% of the drainage channels. The imported electromechanical modules, previously certified in the factory, are being delivered to the site. The expected benefits include the transmission of production from the Mekin dam and the preparation for the connection of future capacities of the Chollet hydroelectric project. The planned interconnection will extend to the industrial zone of the Autonomous Port of Kribi to secure the supply of maritime terminals.

The expropriation of land holdings has been the subject of a compensation decree signed by the Prime Minister, authorizing the release of financial envelopes by the Treasury services for effective payment during the month of August. Ministerial instructions require the TBEA group and control teams to respect the contractual schedule to reduce service interruptions. The reinforcement of the distribution line is a prerequisite for the establishment of new factory units in the southern region.
