SCDP: Three New Infrastructures de sécurité d'approvisionnement inaugurées
Presided over on August 21, 2026 by the Minister of Water and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Essomba, the commissioning ceremony of three new installations of the Cameroonian Petroleum Depots Company concretizes the government's will to secure national supplies.

This investment comes as Cameroon faces vulnerability arising from the shutdown of national refining capacities in 2019.
Located on the Bonabéri site, a new 1,000-metric-ton LPG storage sphere immediately increases global capacities from 2,500 to 3,500 metric tons, realizing a volumetric leap of 40%. At the same time, the commissioning of a 4-kilometer pipeline linking the port area to the Bessengué depot raises monthly receipts from 210,000 to 345,000 cubic meters, enabling simultaneous unloading of 23 vessels against 14 previously, while reducing transfer delays by over 8 hours.
Beyond Douala installations, infrastructure extension reaches regional depots to raise national strategic reserves from 30 to 60 days of continuous consumption.
Thus, the Bélabo depot integrates a 5,000-cubic-meter diesel tank increasing local potential by 92%, while the city of Ngaoundéré prepares expansion of its fuel reception capacities and the economic capital awaits an additional 13,000 cubic meters of super.
Moreover, the integration of these modern works fluidifies the transit of gaseous and petroleum products to consumers. In this regard, the upcoming realization of the Kribi hydrocarbon terminal will complete this emergency device to guarantee Cameroon's energy sovereignty against international market fluctuations.
