The national accounts of the recently concluded fiscal year, recently published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), confirm the resilience and centrality of the tertiary sector in the country's macroeconomic architecture. Showing an expansion rate of 4.3% in 2025, up from 4.2% in the previous fiscal year, the branches encompassing all services consolidate their role as a central pivot.
The National Institute of Statistics emphasizes that the sector's overall contribution to the formation of gross domestic product reaches 2.2 points, significantly surpassing the combined contributions of the primary and secondary sectors, whose respective contributions remain limited to more modest proportions.
This overall performance finds its main impetus in the remarkable dynamism of technological and financial segments at the forefront. Information and communication activities thus record particularly vigorous growth, while financial services continue their expansion at a sustained pace, confirming the catalytic role of banking intermediation.
Other activity branches, such as transport and warehousing, health and social services, and public administration, also show notable annual growth. Despite a conjunctural weakening observed in specific areas such as education, real estate activities, accommodation and catering, or business support services, the services sector demonstrates a solid capacity to absorb fluctuations and to carry the bulk of national growth dynamics.
