The decline in activity, characterized by 300,000 tonnes sold from January to March and 296,800 tonnes recorded between April and June, extends the contraction suffered in 2025, when deliveries fell by 14.1% to 1.2 million tonnes.

The economic downturn raises questions about the industrialist's expansion plans, which aim to increase its grinding capacity from 1.5 million to 3 million tonnes per year. During an exchange with government authorities on July 21, 2026, the petro-industrial group reaffirmed its project to establish a second processing unit in the economic metropolis. The economic model of the Douala plant relies on the pulverization of imported clinker, mixed with local pozzolana and gypsum. The group's Nigerian cooking units have indeed shipped 754,000 tonnes of this semi-finished material to Cameroon and Ghana in the first half of 2026 (+56.7%), as part of a national market where total clinker imports reached 3.106 million tonnes in 2025 for a value of 97.317 billion FCFA.

The execution of the expansion plan is part of an international framework agreement concluded on February 28, 2026, with the Chinese constructor Sinoma International Engineering, covering a global program of over one billion dollars spread across seven African countries. To absorb a doubling of its offer on the national market, the cement manufacturer will have to rely on a restart of public construction orders and better fluidity of the state's budget expenditures, determining factors for making future industrial investments profitable.
