To counter the sharp decline in transactions observed over recent quarters, Cameroon is organizing a prospecting mission to the United Kingdom scheduled for December 2026.


This initiative, launched following a meeting between the Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, and the British High Commissioner, Matthew David Woods, aims to mobilize the national private sector. The objective is to establish solid industrial partnerships, attract productive investments, and acquire cutting-edge technologies, particularly in the promising sectors of energy, infrastructure, and agro-industry.

This visit takes place against a backdrop of general slowdown in bilateral trade.


According to official statistics from the UK Department for Business and Trade covering the period from April 2025 to March 2026, the total volume of goods and services traded fell by 32% to reach £242 million. This contraction is primarily attributable to the goods segment, which dropped by nearly 49%, while the services sector showed greater resilience. Despite this decline in overall volumes, Cameroon's trade balance remains structurally in surplus, driven by exports of crude oil, timber, and notable progress in horticultural and cash crop value chains.

To consolidate these gains and stimulate diversification of export flows beyond hydrocarbons, local enterprises are invited to submit their partnership proposals.


This proactive approach illustrates Yaoundé's determination to fully leverage the opportunities of the Economic Partnership Agreement, by energizing British foreign direct investment, which remains modest but is steadily growing.
