This capital markets engineering feat underscores the banking stock's appeal to institutional subscribers and regional savers. Led by Henri-Claude Oyima, this capital opening aims to raise the public float from 3.85% to 10%, while broadening the shareholder base to include group employees. The proceeds are intended to provide the parent company with permanent capital sized to fund the strategic roadmap dubbed "BGFI Enterprise Project 2030," focused on digital transformation, commercial efficiency, and organizational optimization.
The success of this placement rests on the strength of the financial institution's accounting fundamentals. At the close of the 2025 fiscal year, BGFIBank's total balance sheet had grown 25% to reach 7,428 billion FCFA, generating net banking income of 414 billion FCFA. Bolstered by this liquidity, the holding plans to expand its territorial footprint from 12 to 15 countries by the end of the decade, prioritizing West African banking markets. In parallel with this international expansion, the group is consolidating its domestic footholds. In Gabon, the institution has partnered with the State to structure the Banque du Commerce et de l'Entreprenariat, while in Cameroon, where its share capital stands at 70 billion FCFA, the subsidiary retains leadership of banking syndicates earmarked for financing major industrial and energy infrastructure projects.
The fundraising is accompanied by a realignment of the governance model with banking supervision best practices. The organization of subsidiary boards now integrates independent directors specializing in information systems and cyber risk management, while executive management has undergone strategic renewals within the entities of Côte d'Ivoire, Benin, Senegal, Central African Republic, and Europe.
