The recent evaluation of American diplomacy on the 2025 exercise, highlighting Cameroon's progress alongside other continental nations, serves as a reminder of a fundamental economic reality: access to global capital demands impeccable financial orthodoxy. By choosing the path of clarity in publishing budgetary data and managing debt, financial authorities demonstrate that rigorous governance remains the best tool to defend the country's attractiveness.
Exposing the trajectory of our finances to the eyes of observers and investors constitutes a political choice of cleansing that must be welcomed and amplified. The criteria imposed by international partners—whether it be transparency in extractive contracts or the publicity of revenues—should not be perceived as external constraints, but as levers of internal efficiency. By providing guarantees of accounting sincerity, the State protects its signature, reassures markets, and secures the means necessary for financing priority infrastructures.
Making public figures alone is not enough to solve the development equation. The effort undertaken by the Ministry of Finance must be accompanied by an accelerated modernization of the entire expenditure chain, particularly through the digitization of revenue agencies and strict control of public enterprises.
It is by eliminating the gray areas in the management of state funds that public power will strengthen its negotiating power vis-à-vis donors.
Transforming this institutional recognition into a true engine of growth imposes a budgetary discipline without concession. It is now appropriate to extend this effort of accountability to all local authorities and institutions under trusteeship.
Only constant accounting rigor will allow the building of a resilient economic environment, capable of attracting long-term investments and ensuring autonomous, dignified, and sustainable prosperity.
