Launched in 2022, the project has restored 800 hectares of coastal forest, with a global target of 1,000 hectares, achieved through the replanting of 2 million mangroves along the national coastline. The initiative aims to strengthen organic carbon sequestration and protect coastal areas from marine erosion and flooding.

The ecological compensation effort is accompanied by an urban sanitation component deployed within the territory. The Green City program, operational since April 2025, has introduced 5,000 tree plants in 5 strategic municipalities: Garoua, Bafoussam, Mfou, Limbé, and Douala. These urban reforestation actions complement the operator's internal decarbonization policy, marked by the conversion of network infrastructure to photovoltaic power to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

The economic and social benefits directly benefit the coastal populations. The regeneration of aquatic spaces consolidates the reproduction of fish resources, preserving the livelihoods of vulnerable rural communities affected by climate change. The company's financial commitment to biodiversity preservation reflects the integration of ESG (environmental, social, and governance) criteria at the heart of the growth strategies of telecommunications players in Central Africa.

The operator's approach illustrates the structuring of green corporate finance in the sub-region, where the sustainability of industrial activities becomes a lever for financial attractiveness to international donors. By investing in natural carbon sinks, the company not only secures its territorial anchorage but also anticipates future environmental regulations related to CO2 equivalent emissions. The valorization of ecosystem services provided by mangroves is thus part of a logic of optimizing the value chain, reconciling commercial performance and the preservation of national natural heritage.
