Out of a total of 25 trash cans allocated to the University of Buea, 15 were handed over in the first phase, with the remaining 10 to be delivered later. The vice-chancellor of the institution, Professor Ngomo Horace Manga, received the equipment on behalf of the university community.
The initiative extends the cleaning campaign launched by the bank in 2025 in state institutions across the country. The effort aims to equip academic spaces with waste sorting and management infrastructure, supporting the preservation of the green environment within the Buea campus. The civic action undertaken by the private financial institution is expected to soon extend to the University of Bertoua, followed by a gradual rollout to other public university sites.
The installation of this equipment is part of the bank's strategic axes of social investment, seeking to balance commercial presence with support for local communities. By targeting public universities, the bank strengthens its presence among a pool of young users and administrative staff, while promoting the required health standards in high-density population areas. The initiative allows the bank to associate its brand with environmental imperatives while addressing the material needs of national university infrastructure.
