The head of French diplomacy in Cameroon inquired about progress on the 2020-2050 master development plan, paving the way for stronger industrial and financial partnerships with French economic operators, particularly around the major port extension project toward Manoka Island.
At the heart of discussions: the massive infrastructure transformation program set for the 2050 horizon. Prominently featured was the project to extend the port complex toward Manoka Island, a large-scale undertaking designed to bypass the draft constraints of the natural channel and meet anticipated growth in containerized freight and dry bulk volumes. This expansion prospect opens new investment windows for French logistics firms, engineering companies, and equipment manufacturers traditionally present in the Central African market. The port executive highlighted the PAD's openness to public-private partnerships (PPPs) to accelerate the delivery of its industrial and maritime components.
The cabinet working session was followed by a direct tour of the structuring construction sites in the Douala-Bonabéri port area. This field visit allowed the French delegation to assess progress on quay rehabilitation works, development of advanced logistics zones, and optimization of landside access. As Cameroon works to enhance the attractiveness and competitiveness of its national logistics chains, this confirmed interest from the French embassy heralds a boost in foreign direct investment flows benefiting the national port sector.
