The former head of the Owendo structure in Gabon takes over from David Azra, who has been called to other responsibilities within the Africa Global Logistics headquarters. The installation of the new manager follows a operational review marked by the handling of nearly 750,000 TEUs between May 2025 and May 2026, representing an 82% increase in activity over one year. The operational growth is based on the regional transshipment segment, which now accounts for nearly 70% of the global flows processed on the Kribi quays.

The new manager's roadmap includes the implementation of a 25-30 million euro investment program, equivalent to over 16-19 billion FCFA, undertaken with the China Harbour Engineering Company. Launched in July 2026 and co-financed with the Kribi Autonomous Port, the development of an additional 8 hectares will increase the terminal's static capacity from 24,000 to 34,000 TEUs (+40%), the first step towards achieving an annual global capacity of 1 million TEUs by 2027. The regular reception of giant ships with a capacity of 24,000 TEUs confirms the positioning of the port complex as a sub-regional hub.

The expansion of the deep-water platform's reception capacities reinforces the market attractiveness of the national maritime facade. The growth of the adjacent industrial zones will facilitate the local transformation of raw materials before export. Improved handling rates will increase the yield of international shipowners calling at Cameroon.

However, the terminal's ramp-up will have to overcome the constraints of land transport to the hinterland network. The lack of direct rail connections and the state of the road axes risk hindering the fluidification of goods towards the landlocked countries of the CEMAC zone. The future profitability of maritime investments will remain dependent on the modernization of the country's transport infrastructure.
