The net result thus fell from approximately 989,000 euros, or nearly 649 million FCFA, to 217,214 euros, the equivalent of 142.5 million FCFA.

This marked decline in profits occurs despite a context of commercial activity growth. The structure's turnover increased by 3.8%, reaching 7.45 million euros, or approximately 4.89 billion CFA francs, compared to 7.18 million euros a year earlier. Although the parent company does not explicitly detail the cost structure of its Cameroonian subsidiary, which weighs heavily on the group's balance sheet with a net book value of over 20 million euros, the analysis of the figures highlights a clear disconnect between revenue generation and margin preservation. Inaugurated in July 2022 in Warda to notably house the Carrefour hypermarket and around fifty shops, the complex illustrates the difficulties of large retail formats in converting footfall and rising turnover into sustainable net gains.

This Cameroonian trajectory contrasts sharply with performances observed elsewhere on the continent, such as the Ivorian subsidiary, which saw its profits surge to reach peaks, or Senegal, where revenue dynamics are accompanied by different profitability configurations. For PlaYce Cameroon, the challenge for the coming fiscal years will lie in optimizing operational expenses to restore thickness to its margins and align its financial performance with the potential of its positioning on the local market.
