Indeed,  in the framework of the 2026 edition of the "Clean Cities" competition piloted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, the locality outperformed all its competitors to secure first place regionally with a remarkable score of 98.11.11%. The official results, proclaimed in Yaoundé by the Governor of the Centre Region, Naseri Paul Béa, place Ayos at the forefront ahead of Mbalmayo and Yaoundé V, while commending the personal commitment of Mayor Paul Ndongo Biko'o. This distinction reinforces a dynamic of excellence at the highest level, one year after a performance already praised that had earned the city sixth place nationally and special recognition from the federal executive.


This consecration stems from a global strategy of sanitation and modernization of the living environment driven by municipal authorities. The methodical approach deployed on the ground integrates the rationalization of household waste collection using adapted ecological equipment, regular maintenance of market infrastructures and traffic routes, as well as an active policy of tree planting and landscape embellishment. Beyond mere aesthetic appearances, the jury also validated the rigor of sanitary and environmental criteria applied within local schools and health establishments, under the joint impetus of local hygiene committees and mobilized populations.

Buoyed by this regional acclaim and the jury's recommendations to propel the commune into the national top three, Ayos approaches the next phase of the competition with legitimate ambitions.


By demonstrating that rigorous governance can durably transform the face of decentralized territorial collectivities, the municipality affirms itself more than ever as an inspiring model for the entire national territory.
