IPO: Dangote Petroleum Refinery Secures $1 Billion Guarantee
The consecutive financial arrangement mandate awarded in August 2026 to Marob Strategies, led by former Afreximbank president Benedict Oramah, and Lilium Capital Group, chaired by investor Simon Tiemtoré, seals a $1 billion (approximately 600 billion FCFA) firm commitment program for Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals.

The operation has already injected $600 million during the private placement completed in July, while the remaining $400 million constitutes a firm commitment guaranteed during the effective listing. The transaction targets a company valued at over $40 billion, providing for the sale of 5 to 10% of the shares on the Nigerian Exchange, the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, the BRVM of Abidjan, the Ghana Stock Exchange, and the Nairobi market. The raised capital will support the expansion of the refinery's processing capacities, expected to increase from 700,000 to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028, while also increasing polypropylene production to 2.4 million tons per year.
The firm commitment guarantee secures the execution of buy orders before the opening of the public subscription. The backing of the operation on several continental financial hubs increases the liquidity of the title and expands the pool of African institutional investors.
Doubling the refining capacities by 2028 will reduce the importation of refined fuels across the West African market. The structuring of this IPO demonstrates the ability of African investment bankers to lead massive fundraising efforts for strategic industrial infrastructure.
