Autonomous Public Lighting: MINTP Engineers Trained in Solar Solutions

Organized in partnership with specialists from the industrial firm Ragni, the operational training session brought together 51 engineers, technicians, and officials from the central and regional services of the public works authority.
The training modules covered the sizing of photovoltaic installations, electricity storage devices, installation protocols, and the remote management of lighting systems. The goal is to equip personnel with the necessary knowledge to design autonomous networks adapted to the climatic constraints of Cameroon's road network. The integration of these autonomous technologies is expected to improve nighttime visibility on major axes while reducing the budgetary burden associated with connecting to traditional power grids.
The acquisition of these technical skills responds to the imperatives of sustainable maintenance of the road heritage, where the failure of nighttime lighting remains a factor of insecurity on priority axes. Mastering remote management and battery sizing gives state services the means to better calibrate public tenders and ensure rigorous monitoring of equipment deployed in the field. By leveraging private industrial expertise, the Department of Public Works seeks to standardize photovoltaic devices across all interurban networks to limit future operating costs.
