Cameroon - European Union: A Fruitful Cooperation of 626 Billion FCFA

The multi-year financial programming covering the period 2021-2027 allocates a global envelope of 244 million euros, equivalent to approximately 160 billion FCFA in the form of non-reimbursable direct grants. Since the origin of the cooperation agreements, the cumulative amount of free aid granted by the European Union has reached 953 million euros, or nearly 626 billion FCFA invested in national development programs. The participation in the financing of the Nachtigal hydroelectric dam, with an installed capacity of 420 megawatts, illustrates the orientation of capital towards the absorption of the national energy deficit.
The injection of international public subsidies alleviates the pressure of external debt service on the state's finances. The co-financing of major electricity production projects guarantees the supply of industrial areas with continuous energy. The continuity of multilateral partnerships secures the deployment of the executive's priority investments.
The increase in industrial energy capacities favors the installation of new local transformation units. The maintenance of non-reimbursable financial contributions preserves the budgetary maneuvering margins of financial authorities. The improvement of the national infrastructure framework increases the competitiveness of exporting companies on sub-regional markets.
