48th Extraordinary Session of Comifer: MINT Recommends Acceleration of Strategic Railway Projects
The 48th extraordinary session of the Interministerial Committee on Railway Infrastructures, held on July 24, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLE BIBEHE, was also attended by the Delegate Minister of Transport, the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the General Manager of Camrail, as well as the statutory members of the committee.

The agenda focused on bringing the concessionaire's commitments into compliance with Law No. 2023/010, while also formalizing the accounting transfer of assets from the first five-year plan. The meeting also aimed to address the compensation related to the 2016 Eséka tragedy and secure the land holdings along the railways against illegal occupations
The contractual overhaul is linked to the operationalization of the second five-year plan to modernize infrastructure. Technical teams are preparing to acquire new passenger trains while adapting the lines to the logistical requirements of the Minim-Martap bauxite deposit, whose development requires the transportation of several million tons of ore to maritime ports. The constraints of incivility on the rails and the wear and tear on equipment necessitate reinforced synergy to preserve the integrity of the public railway domain.
The adopted guidelines commit the ministerial departments and the private operator to execute the resolutions without delay. The acceleration of network extension projects and the modernization of equipment are the priority levers retained to increase the competitiveness of rail in the national transport system.
